Will a seven-seat SUV fit three baby seats?
QUESTION
Hi John,
I have an unusual car question for you.
Can I assume my 2012 Kia Sorento will fit three baby seats in the second row?
If not, does any SUV/Sedan on the market do this? I'm not a fan of having to resort to a people mover like the Carnival.
Thanks John, love your reviews.

ANSWER
Ian,
You’re talking to an engineer, dude. Can we assume the Space Shuttle is ‘go’ for launch? Generally, no. We’d go through an evaluation process.
Also, you’ve got the chicken and the egg arse-about, on this, with all due respect.
How to do this: Research the three narrowest child restraints available, which pertain to your kids.
Determine the total width. Measure the Sorento interior dimensions. See if it’s a ‘go’ or not.
Pro tip: Carnival is objectively a better vehicle than Sorento in the overwhelming majority of family applications. One doesn’t ‘resort’ to a better vehicle. One re-evaluates the biases that is leading one down the wrong path. (If one wants to get this right.) Sorento is OK; Carnival’s just better in the overwhelming majority of operating scenarios.
Also, good luck finding a new Sorento at the moment. Supply seems very short.
