Is the new Toyota Fortuner good value?
QUESTION
Hi there John,
Just wanting you opinion on the new 2021 Toyota Fortuner base spec. I think it looks much improved over the previous model but think the price hike isn't justified.
Any deals available at the moment? Am willing to wait until next year, just want a good price. I can pay cash if that works out better, but may finance if there is a better deal available.
If you think any alternatives are better (eg 2021 Isuzu MU-X); I’m interested to hear.
Thanks,
Trent
ANSWER
Hey Trent,
The two hurdles for me are: Can you live with it (as it’s still pretty ‘poverty’ in base spec) and can you tolerate the price (seems over-priced for a base Hilux with a wagon body).
These are both personal preference calls as I see it. As for #1, I guess it depends what you intend doing with it. If it’s a work vehicle or a hardcore off-roader you want, okay. As to the price, some people love Toyota and will pay anything for it, but then I look at Pajero Sport, dollar for dollar.
AFFORDABLE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE
If you’re sick of paying through the neck for roadside assistance, I’ve teamed up with 24/7 to offer AutoExpert readers nationwide roadside assistance from just $69 annually. Full details here >>
I mean, you can have the GLS 7-seater Pajero Sport for the same price as the poverty-pack Fortuner, for example. Of you can have the top-spec Exceed for $6000 more, where Crusade (top-spec) Fortuner wants over $67,000.
Let me know how you go.
Cheers,
John
