QUESTION
Hi Jon,
I recently purchased, well it's now over a year old, a brand new 2021 XLT Ford Ranger automatic and I've noticed a tailshaft is out of faze [sic].
My father has an early 2000 model 79-Series LandCruiser and its tailshaft is also out of phase.
I'm speaking to Ford. Ford advised me that this is done for balancing reasons.
Shaft out of phase, in my opinion, would cause vibration and load-up different components in the drivetrain. Ford is said to me that this is not a problem.
My question to you is, are manufacturers deliberately placing tail shafts out of phase to reduce vibration in the driveline?
