Should you use factory tie down points for 4WD recovery?

Hi John,
I know you've done some videos on 4WD recovery and recovery gear, but I'm not sure you've covered this topic in particular and would like your educated opinion on it.
Recovery points versus tow points, or as the mob likes to call them, tie down points.
On my vehicle, at ‘21 D-Max, I've foregone the aftermarket rated recovery point option for a common sense approach of doing everything possible to not get bogged to the point of needing to be pulled out of a sticky situation, using a shovel and recovery boards if needed. If that doesn't work, I’ll use the rated tow point to be pulled out if it ever came to that.
That or I will use the towbar hitch receiver and pin to be pulled out backwards all with the appropriate recovery gear and common sense.
I detest the idea of having to spend my hard-earned on anything that there is an alternative option or approach to. I would really love your thoughts on using the tow point to be pulled out gently.
In my case it would be getting pulled out of sand as a last resort. I just can't justify the 700 bucks that I would need to spend on a “rated recovery point”, but maybe you could sway me.
