Mercedes-Benz says its squeaky brakes are a 'characteristic' of the vehicle. They call it a 'feature', and it's all your fault. I call BS...Read More
- Are you thinking about buying a Mercedes-Benz?

- Are you seduced by the notion of 'superior German engineering'?
- Or do you just think the time is right for you to drive your first true luxury car? Indulge yourself?
- Is it time to step up from those Japanese or South Korean cars you've been driving and get something better?

I am entertaining the idea of buying a Mercedes-Benz C 250 petrol with some options. My question is, if the dealer locates the correct colour car with the right options I’m looking for, but he has to get it in from another dealership, does that compromise my ability to barter the price down?Read More
New car import laws mean you might soon be able to import privately your own new car - saving thousands. Predictably enough, the car industry has responded with a Himalaya of horseshit to the effect of: that’s a bad idea. But what's the truth?Read More
Some reviewers claim the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is really a kind of a mini-me S-Class that even ordinary mortals can afford. But I wonder if the new C-Class really struggles for relevance and objective value against far more affordable alternatives.Read More
Q&A from Trevor: I have become interested in the Mercedes-Benz GLA 250. Do you think it is just a girlie cheap merc or a decent alternative to the Jeep? We are not getting any younger and could do with a lower vehicle with easier entry and exit for my sweet little Nana.Read More
Mercedes-Benz took a potshot at free-market competition recently, firing a gravity bomb into insurers, but what they’re really doing is trying to engineer a monopoly, so they can rip you off, with impunity, until the end of time. Mercedes-Benz even calls them "counterfeit" parts - framing the debate conveniently as if alternative suppliers of parts are in some way criminals, or perhaps black marketeers. In fact, what they are, are direct marketplace competitors.Read More
To rectify this fault, I have been informed that a new module will cost in excess of $3000!!! I have also been informed that a second hand unit will not suffice, because the module is suitable for a single vehicle use only. As I understand it, if a used module is simply transferred from one car to another, the computer becomes "confused" and it will not run at all. John, may I ask if this scenario sounds reasonable to you?Read More
If you’ve got 40 grand to spend, you can buy the works burger of Mazda3s or a mid-spec Mercedes-Benz A Class. They’re about the same on fundamentals. But let’s find out which one’s better value.Read More
I love your radio program on 2UE. I am planning to buy a new Mercedes in 2014. I am in two minds between the E 250 CDI and the CLS Coupe (which is $22,000 dearer). From the drive, level of equipment and resale value, which one should I be going for?
In August we sent you an email asking your opinion on the new VTiL Honda and you very kindly phoned my husband to discuss this along with some other options.
We still haven't made a decision re the choice of new car but yesterday had a look at the new Mercedes-Benz CLA 200. A report in Saturday's Daily Telegraph was most complimentary and we like the look of it.
Have you had a chance to drive one John and if so what is your opinion?
