MAIL SACK 13 - Volkswagen Dieselgate Death Toll

In this episode: The end of the line for the Holden Cruze. Woof woof. How many people will the Volkswagen dieselgate scandal kill prematurely, and why those defective engines can’t be fixed without hurting power and economy. Plus a religious nutbag who really doesn’t like these videos, and the new even more irrelevant, outrageously expensive and faster Bugatti that can still never be driven on Australian roads.

Holden Volt Electric Cars Australia Product Recall

64,000 Holden (and Chevrolet) Volts are being recalled globally because they might just spontaneously pop a cap of carbon monoxide in yo’ grille. A small boomerang-shaped chrome strip around the C-pillar on the driver's side of my '08 Caprice has fallen off.  The dealer quoted $240 to replace it, as it includes the window. My Holden Cruze is Stuck in Gear

My 2012 Holden Cruze automatic has problems with the transmission. (It has only done 16,000 km.) Yesterday, after I had done around 20km, the automatic transmission only ran in first gear (about 5000rpm at 40km/h). When I changed it to manual, the display told me that the car was in fourth gear while it still ran in first (I could also not change gears in manual mode). The car has another six months' warranty. I will go to Holden tomorrow but, most likely, the car will work when they drive it and they will say that there is no problem. Do you know of this problem and do you have any advice?

Why does my Holden Cruze rev too high on the freeway?

The major annoyance with my Holden Cruze Equipe is the high gear ratio. Travelling at 110km/h and the 5th gear RPMs are sitting just over 3000, which makes the car sound like it's...screaming (is one way to put it). It's like it really needs a 6th gear. I have taken it to my dealer and they say that there is nothing they can do to lower the gear ratio. Is this true?
